One Pan Shakshuka

Shakshuka is a flavoursome, Mediterranean dish which consists of poached eggs in a hearty tomato sauce with fragrant herbs and spices. Whilst keeping the recipe traditional, we’ve added a few tweaks to take it up a notch. The goats cheese is the highlight of the dish adding salt and tang to the rich tomato sauce. This can easily be replaced with feta or cheddar if you want to make it cheesy. We believe this 20 minute meal can be enjoyed at anytime of the day.  


  • 1 baguette or bread of your choice 
  • 1 brown onion 
  • 1 red capsicum 
  • 2 tbsp olive oil  
  • 1 clove of garlic 
  • 1 tsp cumin 
  • 1 tsp paprika  
  • 2 cans crushed tomatoes (800g) 
  • 4 eggs  
  • Parsley  
  • 50g goats cheese  


  1. Finely dice brown onion and capsicum  
  2. Heat olive oil in a pan on medium heat and add the onions and capsicum. Stir for 2-3 mins until sauteed 
  3. Add crushed garlic, cumin and paprika. Stir for 2 mins until fragrant  
  4. Add canned tomatoes, stir then add the eggs slowly into small holes created with a spoon 
  5. Cook uncovered for 5 minutes and then covered for 2 minutes  
  6. Serve with chipped parsley, goats cheese and toasted bread
